Seahorse Productions is the creation of Shannon Service. Shannon is the Director/Producer of Emmy nominated documentary GHOST FLEET that follows a remarkable hero as she scours remote islands for men who jumped ship to escape slavery at sea. The film and VR project have appeared at film festivals around the world including Sundance, Toronto, Telluride and Berlin. It is currently on Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Delta Airlines.
Shannon was nominated for DocNYC’s Best New Director award and won the best new director award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
She is also an Edward R. Murrow investigative reporter who has filed for The New York Times, Slate Magazine and The Guardian of London among others. In 2012, she broke the story of slavery at sea for National Public Radio’s Morning Edition.
She speaks internationally on the intersection of oceans, human rights and security for the US State Department and has spoken at the United Nations, UNHCR, the US Congress and a side event at the Asia Pacific Economic Conference.
